Jonathan Canady

Cases & Composites 2.0

The extremes of human experience have captivated my imagination for as long as I
can remember. That fixation and the fact I am in constant battle with my own
mental turmoil brought about the works of Cases & Composites 2.0. The human
face and the combination of black, white, red and silver express my inner
conflicts most clearly. Each work begins by creating a textured background that
is then attacked with wire or a knife dipped in white paint. From the resulting
chaos I make choices to put things into a final distorted order. The finished
work in not just a representation of human features, it is a pure projection
from the dark corners of my mind. -- Jonathan Canady

GERM is pleased to present Jonathan Canady's “Cases and Composites 2.0,” the artist's second solo exhibition at the gallery. Imagine the blurred images that populate the dark corners of every human mind projected onto canvas.  In the spirit and tradition of Munch and Bacon, this is Canady's art.

Canady's work has been exhibited in galleries and published in the underground press across the United States and in Europe. With “Cases and Composites 2.0,” the well known underground experimental musician who turned to painting in 2007 shares the latest examples of his terrible vision with the world -- both the physical as well as the virtual.

All work will be simultaneously exhibited on the internet in addition to the gallery.
